13 tonnes of beef recalled from the US market
Washington Beef, LLC, a Toppenish, Washington establishment, is recalling approximately 13.7 tonnes of ground beef chubs products that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced at the end of last week.
The ground beef chubs were produced on Dec. 27, 2018, and include a “Use or Freeze by” date of 01/20/19. These items were shipped nationwide. The problem was discovered by a consumer complaint to the company on February 28, 2019. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. FSIS is concerned that some product may be frozen and in consumers’ freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
