Kazakhstan's halal food and drink market is estimated at an annual 3 billion dollars, with over 70% of the Kazak population being Muslim. Halal meat and meat products account for nearly 30% of the total sales, according to the data provided by WorldFood Kazakhstan.

From total expenditures on food and drink across Kazakhstan worth 22 billion dollars, the country's 11 million muslims spend nearly 12 billion dollars, of which 3 billion dollars represent expenditure on halal-specific foodstuffs.

In recent years, Kazakhstan has witness a rise in halal food stores and halal enterprises, from just eight halal specialist in 2002. "Now there were over 600 halal businesses, plus 130 dedicated slaughterhouses catering to Kazakhstan's Muslim population."
