30% of meat and meat product sales in Kazakhstan are halal
From total expenditures on food and drink across Kazakhstan worth 22 billion dollars, the country's 11 million muslims spend nearly 12 billion dollars, of which 3 billion dollars represent expenditure on halal-specific foodstuffs.
In recent years, Kazakhstan has witness a rise in halal food stores and halal enterprises, from just eight halal specialist in 2002. "Now there were over 600 halal businesses, plus 130 dedicated slaughterhouses catering to Kazakhstan's Muslim population."
