Argentina will export its first batch of beef to Tunisia following a six-year-old ban.

First batch of Argentinian beef to reach Tunisia after 6 years

The Argentinian Ministry of Agriculture has revealed the South American country is exporting its first 25 tonnes of boneless beef to Tunisia.

This shipment received the sanitary certificate, which is operated through the National Service of Health and Agri-Food Quality (Senasa). The certificate has been in force since 2005 for boneless beef, and since 2007 for sheep with and without bone.

"It is an important achievement for both countries, and it is the result of a joint and coordinated work between the Foreign Ministries, the health agencies and the agro-industry officials from both Argentina and Tunisia, which is very relevant news for the meat sector. Argentina's exports, little by little they are recovering and gaining markets," declared Argentine chancellor Jorge Faurie.

"Tunisia is a potential export market for our country, since every year the negotiations advance in a positive way. During 2018, certificates were approved to export edible bovine gelatin, hides of domestic ungulates and bees, and Argentina is currently negotiating sanitary certificates for frozen sheep and bovine giblets, bovine and buvalino frozen semen, in vivo harvested embryos and fattening cattle," the statement of the Ministry of Agriculture read.
