INTERPORC received the Chinese Ambassador at its stand in Alimentaria fair

INTERPORC has received a visit from Yao Jing, ambassador of the People's Republic of China in Spain, at its stand at the Barcelona Alimentaria fair. The institutional meeting with those responsible for the Interprofessional, companies and associations of the sector has served to strengthen the commercial relations of the Spanish pork sector with that country.

INTERPORC received the Chinese Ambassador at its stand in Alimentaria fair

During the meeting, the ambassador invited Spanish pork companies to continue investing in exporting products with high added value to China, due to their high quality and food safety.

For his part, Manuel García, president of INTERPORC, has pointed out that "our commercial relations with China already have a long history based on trust and the solid ties that the pork companies of both countries have established. Therefore, we have no doubt that the great variety and quality of Spanish pork products will continue to be very present in that market in the future".

In 2023, China once again was the main destination for white-coated pork exports with a total of 560,488 tons worth 1,223 million euros. A volume that, in turn, makes Spain the main pork supplier to China.

The visit of the Chinese ambassador was the first institutional visit received at the INTERPORC stand, which since early in the morning has once again become the meeting point of the white-coated pig sector. Thus, it has already welcomed numerous foreign professional visitors interested in white pork products from Spain.

All of them have been able to taste the ham cut by José Sabiote González, champion of the INTERPORC SPAIN 2021 International White Layer Ham Cutters Competition; the sweet, mixed, serrano, choribrie, payés and hot pork sandwiches in the tasting area of the stand; the recipes of chefs Mayela Armas and Marga Lee; and the first dishes prepared by the students of the INS School of Hospitality and Tourism cooking school in Barcelona who participate in the contest organized during the fair by INTERPORC.

Furthermore, it has already been possible to confirm the success of one of the new features of this edition, the two interactive activities prepared by the Interprofessional. On the one hand, an immersive experience that allows visitors to take a virtual visit to a farm. On the other hand, a test that helps them check their knowledge about the sector and white-coated pork products.
