Sealed Air opens customer facility in Milan, Italy

Packforum EMEA is located in Passirana di Rho, Milan, and is expected to attract packaging and e-commerce companies throughout the region, according to a press release from the company.

Created for guests to discover new packaging solutions and to exchange ideas about the global market and consumer trends, Packforum EMEA provides a technology-driven experience with a focus on innovation, resource efficiency, and omnichannel strategies. The site, which also houses one of the company’s leading global innovation and development centers, is expected to attract packaging and e-commerce companies throughout the region.

Customer desires first

At Packforum EMEA, customers can ideate, create and test food and product packaging solutions in a virtual supermarket, a smart kitchen for demonstrations and one of the company’s largest manufacturing plants in the region, which is co-located at the center. Sealed Air’s on-site experts in circular economy, food science, food law compliance, e-commerce fulfilment, and packaging automation will accelerate the delivery of innovation and customer collaboration.

“This investment is yet another example of Sealed Air’s commitment to innovation and sustainability and offers a forum for collaboration with our customers as we work together to build a waste-free future across global industries,” said Karl Deily, Sealed Air Chief Commercial Officer.

Built and furnished using repurposed materials, the environmentally friendly facility uses sustainable energy sources to help reduce operational waste.

“Eliminating waste from our operations and helping our customers eliminate waste throughout the supply chain not only improves the efficiency and profitability of their operations but also significantly benefits our communities and environment,” said Dr Ron Cotterman, Sealed Air Vice President, Corporate Innovation and Sustainability. “We’re excited to work with customers at Packforum to develop creative solutions for solving their critical packaging challenges.”In addition to the new center in Italy, Sealed Air has customer engagement facilities in Shanghai, China and at Sealed Air’s global corporate headquarters in the US.
