USMEF seminar aids purchasing plans, market strategies for Korean trade

USMEF holds market outlook seminars twice a year for the Korean trade to share global meat production, pricing and forecasts that support the trade’s development of red meat purchasing plans and marketing strategies. Uncertainties in global meat trade, economies and currency fluctuations have created a challenging planning environment for the Korean meat trade in 2025.

USMEF Vice President of Asia Pacific Jihae Yang welcomed attendees and provided opening remarks for the seminar. Featured speakers included Mark Dries, agricultural counselor of the U.S. Embassy; Seungji Jeon, director of the Samsung Futures Research Center; Sanggon Jeon, professor of the Department of Food & Economics of Gyeongsang National University; and Erin Borror, USMEF’s vice president of economic analysis.

"We work to position ourselves with the Korean trade as a trusted authority on global meat trends and issues", says USMEF Korea Director Junil Park. "These seminars provide a formal setting for market planning and trade discussions and help keep USMEF at the center of those conversations".

The seminar was made possible by funding from the Beef Checkoff Program, the National Pork Board, and USDA’s Market Access Program and Regional Agricultural Promotion Program.
