ANAFRIC faces the last quarter of the year with a European agenda focused on strengthening the competitiveness of the meat sector, reducing administrative burdens and advocating for a solid budget for agri-food promotion .
“We need clear and proportionate rules, adapted to the reality of companies, and a promotion policy that helps to maintain and open markets,” says José Friguls , president of ANAFRIC.
Regulatory simplification and meat designations
The association will follow the Omnibus package for the simplification of food and feed legislation, as well as the modification of the Common Market Organization, with special attention to the defense of meat designations and marketing standards.
More resources for agri-food promotion
ANAFRIC is calling for continued funding for the SIMPLE and MULTI promotional programs through 2027, in light of the cuts planned by the European Commission. The association believes these programs are essential for boosting the presence of European products in international markets.
Monitoring of trade agreements
The Spanish meat industry association will continue to analyze the agreements with Mercosur and Australia, as well as the negotiations with the United Kingdom. In the case of Mercosur, it will monitor the progress of the appeal filed by Poland and will report any issues detected in the management of tariff quotas to the European institutions.
Environmental regulations and animal welfare
The implementation of the European Union’s deforestation regulation (EUDR), proposals on animal welfare during transport, and public procurement requirements are also among the priorities. ANAFRIC will work to ensure that the new obligations are clear, proportionate, and feasible for businesses.
“Our goal is to anticipate regulatory changes, convey the needs of the sector and propose solutions that allow us to meet European objectives without imposing unnecessary burdens,” explains Rosa Solanes , delegate of ANAFRIC.
The association will complete its agenda by monitoring the new initiatives of the European Commission and its work program for 2027, strengthening institutional dialogue in defense of the competitiveness of meat companies.
