According to the latest report from the Argentine Beef Exporters Consortium (ABC), exports of chilled and frozen beef reached 72,900 metric tons (product weight) and generated US$518.4 million in August. Compared to July, shipments increased by 11.1% and revenue by 11.3%.
Compared to the same month last year, virtually the same amount of meat was shipped. However, the average price reached US$7,114 per ton, 28.5% higher than the price recorded a year earlier, slightly above the July price, with an increase of 0.2%.
The Chinese market received 59.1% of the exported volume during August and remained the main destination. Approximately 25,000 tons of boneless beef were shipped there, valued at US$148.9 million, in addition to 18,100 tons of beef with bone and bovine bones resulting from deboning, valued at US$50.5 million.
Shipments of frozen boneless beef to China reached 25,000 tons, exceeding the range of 15,000 to 23,000 tons per month observed during the first seven months of the year. The price was close to US$5,960 per ton.
The United States ranked second among destinations, receiving 10,300 tons of chilled and frozen beef. The report noted that both types of shipments decreased compared to the previous month, although the US market remained significant within Argentine exports.
Israel came in third with 7,200 tons. Of that total, 3,100 tons were chilled meat and 4,100 tons were frozen, in a month marked by the recovery of Kosher-certified shipments following the resumption of the harvest season.
Between January and August, Argentine exported 476,700 tons of chilled and frozen beef for US$3.29 billion. Compared to the same period in 2015, the volume grew by 5.9%, while the value increased by 39.8%.
Frozen boneless beef was the largest export category in August, with 41,500 tons and US$296.5 million. Shipments increased 7.3% compared to July, driven by higher sales to China that partially offset declines to the United States and Israel.
Meanwhile, Europe received 6,300 tons of chilled boneless meat, nearly 50% more than in July. However, the cumulative total for the first eight months still showed a year-on-year decrease of 7% for that destination.
Exports of beef offal and preparations totaled another 10,300 tons and US$28.6 million in August. So far this year, that category has accumulated 73,100 tons worth US$192 million.
Thus, the month’s balance showed a year-on-year improvement in turnover, mainly supported by prices, while the total volume remained almost unchanged compared to August 2025. The difference was also reflected in the year-to-date total, since between January and August, revenues grew much more than the tons exported.
