Brazilian exports of chicken meat (considering all products, including fresh and processed) totaled 492,634 thousand tons in August, a volume 24.8% higher than that recorded in the same period of 2025, when 394,637 thousand tons were shipped, according to the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA).
Revenue from shipments reached US$997,870 million, a result 42.7% higher than the US$699,458 million obtained in August of last year. It is the second-best result in the historical series, surpassed only by May of this year.
In the period from January to August, exports reached 3,921 million tons, a growth of 15.5% compared to the 3,395 million tons shipped in the same period of 2025. Accumulated revenue reached US$7,689 billion, an increase of 21.9% over the US$6,308 billion registered in the previous year.
China was the main destination for Brazilian chicken meat exports in August, with 50,988 tons. This result far exceeds the 83 tons shipped in the same month of 2025, a period affected by temporary suspensions resulting from the only outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) recorded in Brazilian commercial production, a situation that was quickly resolved in the first half of last year.
Following among the main destinations are the United Arab Emirates, with 44,279 thousand tons, an increase of 35.9%; the European Union, with 42,432 thousand tons, an increase of 1,469.1% (a situation equivalent to the comparison with China); Japan, with 41,795 thousand tons, a growth of 37.8%; Saudi Arabia, with 35,195 thousand tons, an increase of 29.9%; and South Africa, with 25,590 thousand tones, a volume 0.8% lower than that recorded in August 2025.
Among the exporting states, Paraná maintained its leadership in August, with 200,585 thousand tons, a volume 26.4% higher than the 158,744 thousand tons registered in the same month of 2025. Following are Santa Catarina, with 105,993 thousand tons (+18.1%, compared to 89,763 thousand tons); Rio Grande do Sul, with 61,202 thousand tons (+38.7%, compared to 44,115 thousand tons); São Paulo, with 29,531 thousand tons (+20.3%, compared to 24,539 thousand tons); and Goiás, with 24,836 thousand tons (+15.4%, compared to 21,515 thousand tons).
“The results for August reinforce the recovery of shipments and the responsiveness of the Brazilian poultry industry. Part of the increases recorded in the monthly comparison, especially in markets such as China and the European Union, occurs on a basis impacted by the temporary suspensions seen after the 2025 sanitary episode, which has already been overcome. At the same time, the consistent growth in the accumulated year demonstrates the strength of international demand, the diversification of destinations, and the confidence of the markets in the quality and safety of Brazilian chicken meat. In the case of the EU, there is also the high demand that preceded the temporary suspension of shipments, since September 3rd,” advises the president of ABPA, Ricardo Santin.
