The new cases have been located in the vicinity of those previously reported. The total number of positive cases is now 13.
African swine fever (ASF) is a disease that does not affect people, either through contact with animals or by ingesting products derived from them.
The Central Veterinary Laboratory in Algete (Madrid) has confirmed four more wild boars  testing positive for  African swine fever (ASF). These boars were found near previously reported cases in the municipality of Cerdanyola del Vallés (Barcelona). With these new positive results, the disease has now been confirmed in a total of 13 wild animals, all in the same area.
Official veterinary services in Catalonia are continuing their visits and sample collection at the 39 farms located in the affected area, which remain free of the disease. In addition, 37 other dead wild boars have been found in and around the area, all of which tested negative.
The central and regional administrations remind everyone to maintain a high level of alert, with high biosecurity measures both on farms and in wild boar populations.
