The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries in Argentine launched the Animal Traceability Information System (TRAZA), a new optional platform designed to integrate existing information on livestock production and provide tools to improve traceability, data management and access to financing for the sector.
The measure, formalized through Resolution 117/2026, establishes that TRAZA will function as a consultation system that will gather information from different State registries, covering all stages of the production chain, from breeding and fattening to slaughter.
According to the rationale of the regulation, the development of the platform responds to the advancement of individual electronic identification of cattle, buffalo and deer, whose implementation began this year, and seeks to take advantage of that information to generate tools that allow for improved decision-making by both the public sector and private operators.
One of the system’s main objectives is to facilitate the use of livestock as financial collateral. In this regard, TRAZA will allow for the validation of the availability of animals subject to warrant contracts and other guarantee instruments, as well as providing mechanisms for tracking livestock movements through integration with the systems of the National Agri-Food Health and Quality Service (Senasa).
The resolution also instructs Senasa to develop the necessary technical aspects for the implementation of the system and to incorporate mechanisms that allow online registration of deposit certificates and warrants on livestock, so that creditors can access information related to the movements and stock of the animals pledged as collateral.
TRAZA will allow the validation of the availability of animals covered by warrant contracts and other guarantee instruments, in addition to providing mechanisms for monitoring livestock movements.
The Government maintains that the initiative aims to deepen the digitization of agricultural activity and generate low-cost tools that take advantage of the information already available in official systems.
It is also believed that the tool will help boost credit for the livestock sector by providing greater legal certainty and transparency in financial transactions. TRAZA will be implemented gradually.
With this measure, the Ministry of Agriculture seeks to consolidate a scheme that combines individual traceability of the herd with new digital tools to strengthen the management of the meat chain and expand financing possibilities for producers.
