Spanish exports of fresh beef grew by 6.8 percent in volume this year

Spain exported 115,660 tons of beef between January and July 2026, with a turnover of 929.6 million euros.

Fresh or chilled beef is strengthening its presence abroad. According to ASAJA, based on provisional data from the Spanish Tax Agency (AEAT), Spanish exports increased by 6.8% in volume and 14.9% in value during the first seven months of 2016 compared to the same period of the previous year.

Portugal and Italy were the leading destinations, with 33,465 and 22,188 tons respectively, followed by Algeria, with 16,883 tons. In contrast, exports of frozen meat fell by 11%, to 19,018 tons.

The trend for live cattle was different: exports of cattle weighing over 300 kilos fell from 50,570 to 17,702 head. In this category, shipments to Morocco dropped from 36,316 animals to none. Sales to Lebanon and Italy did not offset this decline.
