This action contributes to strengthening trade relations between Brazil and the Peruvian market.
The action organized by the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA), in partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil), during Expoalimentaria Peru 2026, held last week in Lima (Peru), was successfully concluded.
Based on the business meetings that took place during just three days of the event, companies project more than US$36 million in business over the next 12 months. During the fair alone, US$2.87 million in business was conducted with buyers and importers from six countries.
This is ABPA’s second participation in Expoalimentaria Peru. This year, the association had an exclusive 80 m² space dedicated to the international promotion of Brazilian animal protein. The initiative brought together the companies Bello Alimentos, Netto Alimentos, Friato, MBRF, Somave, Jaguafrangos, and Avenorte.
In addition to business, ABPA’s participation in Lima focused on promoting the sector brands Brazilian Chicken, Brazilian Pork, Brazilian Egg, Brazilian Breeders, and Brazilian Duck, highlighting attributes such as quality, sanitary safety, sustainability, scale, and regularity of supply.
“The results demonstrate the importance of Expoalimentaria for expanding trade relations between Brazil and Peru. The presence of buyers from different markets reinforces international interest in Brazilian animal protein and opens new opportunities for our exporting companies,” highlights the president of ABPA, Ricardo Santin.
Peru is a strategic and increasingly relevant market for Brazilian animal proteins. Between January and August 2026, Brazil exported 40,700 tons of chicken meat to the country, generating US$68.5 million in revenue. Compared to the same period in 2025, this represents a 59.9% increase in volume and a 57.8% increase in revenue.
During the same period, 12,700 tons of pork were shipped to Peru, generating US$32 million. Shipments grew 142% in volume and 112.2% in revenue compared to January to August 2025.
