During the 2025-2026 epidemiological season, France experienced a significant resurgence of HPAI: 156 outbreaks were identified in France, including 125 in commercial poultry farms.
To prevent further spread, sanitary measures, including restrictions on poultry movement in regulated areas, were implemented. These measures had economic consequences across the entire poultry production chain, extending beyond the affected farms themselves.
To address these repercussions, Annie Genevard, Minister of Agriculture, Agri-food and Food Sovereignty, announces the implementation of an economic aid scheme for hatchery, downstream and collection companies affected by the consequences of the 2025-2026 HPAI epizootic.
With a budget of €10 million, this scheme aims to support businesses in these three sectors that have suffered a substantial loss of activity due to measures to combat the spread of HPAI. Eligible businesses will include those whose activity is directly linked to poultry farming and whose gross operating profit (EBITDA) has significantly decreased due to the health restrictions implemented during the 2025-2026 epizootic season, provided they supply animals or services, or are supplied by farms located, in particular, in regulated areas.
The professionals will meet to establish the parameters of the system, a necessary prerequisite for the mandatory notification to the European Commission.
