Three days of international basketball in Zaragoza with the men’s and women’s national teams, excitement in the stands and thousands of fans sharing the same passion around sport, gastronomy and active life through the action ‘The sandwich that moves you’, promoted by the Interprofessional Association of White Pigs ( INTERPORC ), within the framework of its collaboration with the Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB), which has had the collaboration of Foods of Spain.
During the days of August 28, 29 and 30, more than 6,000 fans enjoyed the Fan Zone of the Prince Felipe Pavilion, where the ‘The sandwich that moves you’ campaign has distributed almost 1,700 serrano ham sandwiches coinciding with the men’s team match against Portugal, within their path to the Qatar 2027 World Cup, and the last two preparation matches of the women’s team against Mali and China before the World Cup in Germany.
The Serrano ham sandwich, as one of the most recognizable foods in our gastronomy, has become a familiar element with which to share an experience and connect food, active life, gastronomic tradition and sport.
Furthermore, the association with the Spanish National Teams allows INTERPORC to connect with society through values it considers its own: effort, perseverance, self-improvement, commitment, and teamwork. These principles are integral to elite sports and are also present in the daily work of thousands of professionals in the white pig sector.
Active lifestyle and balanced diet
According to INTERPORC’s CEO, Alberto Herranz, “When we support our national teams, we’re not just standing alongside great athletes. We’re standing with people who represent ideals that we in the pork industry deeply share, and which we want to help convey to all the fans who live and breathe their idols.”
Herranz added that “’The sandwich that moves you’ allows us to do this in a very personal way, as it combines Spanish food and gastronomy with sport and those who enjoy it. We want it to be part of those moments of connection and excitement and to help convey the importance of combining a balanced diet with an active lifestyle.”
This action in Zaragoza is part of a line of work with which INTERPORC seeks to bring the sector closer to society through sport, gastronomy and experiences capable of generating a link with citizens.
This was recently demonstrated during the 2026 FIFA World Cup with ‘Rural Pride,’ an initiative that brought the excitement of the Spanish National Team’s matches to eight municipalities linked to some of the players on ‘La Roja.’ More than 7,000 people shared Spain’s journey to the world title with the Interprofessional Association while enjoying delicious Serrano ham sandwiches.
