The plan expands production capacity by more than 7 million birds by 2028 and supports a strategy based on scale, higher value-added products, innovation, and efficiency.
Mantiqueira Brasil will invest approximately R$ 565 million in a new expansion cycle in the country, with projects that will increase its production capacity by more than 7 million birds by 2028. These investments are part of the company’s long-term strategy to gain scale, advance in higher value-added products, and strengthen its competitiveness and operational efficiency.
The plan aims to increase annual production capacity by 50%, from approximately 4 billion eggs to 6 billion by 2028, and combines organic expansion, asset modernization, and new technologies across five states. Projects include a new facility in Minas Gerais, as well as expanded operations in São Paulo, Paraná, Santa Catarina, and Goiás.
The new investment cycle in Brazil is occurring in parallel with Mantiqueira’s international expansion and is part of a broader strategy to consolidate the company among the world’s largest egg producers. The company has been combining the strengthening of operations in the Brazilian market, expansion in the United States, transformation of the product mix, and innovation to increase its scale and strengthen its position in higher value-added categories.
“We are building Mantiqueira for the long term. We have a clear strategy to gain scale, expand our presence in higher value-added products that meet consumer needs, and make the business increasingly efficient and diversified. This new investment cycle strengthens our platform in Brazil by combining animal welfare practices and productive efficiency, so that we can continue to grow consistently in the coming years, while advancing our ambition to be among the largest companies in the sector in the world ,” says Leandro Pinto , founder of Mantiqueira .
Investments combine reach and high technology.
One of the largest individual portions of the investment will be allocated to São Sebastião do Rio Verde, in southern Minas Gerais, where the company is building a new unit with areas for rearing, laying, sorting, and industrial utilities. The operation will have the capacity to house 3 million birds, with delivery scheduled for the first half of 2028.
Located in a strategic region for supplying the main consumer centers, the new unit will allow Mantiqueira to expand its capacity. The project is expected to create approximately 120 direct and 100 indirect jobs.
In São Paulo, the company is expanding its plant in Lorena, in the Paraíba Valley, the largest cage-free poultry farm in Latin America. The unit received four two-story laying sheds with German-origin multilevel technology designed for raising free-range chickens, in addition to two single-story rearing sheds.
The first phase will expand the local static capacity to 1.5 million birds. A second phase, already mapped out, could increase Lorena’s flock to 3 million birds by 2028. To keep up with the increased scale, the unit has automated machinery capable of processing up to 200,000 eggs per hour and directing products according to brand, packaging, and retail demand.
Investments are also progressing in other regions of the country. In Pouso Alto (MG), the unit will be expanded to accommodate 700,000 new birds in the conventional system, including chickens and quails, with completion scheduled for June 2027.
In Paraná, resources are concentrated in the Céu Azul region, with the modernization of the sorting area, which received a state-of-the-art machine, and the expansion of the integration model with small producers. The initiative will add capacity equivalent to 1.3 million birds and should directly benefit around 120 rural producers by the end of 2026.
In São João do Itaperiú (SC), the structure will be modernized with the construction of new laying and rearing sheds, as well as a new feed factory. In Formosa (GO), recently completed improvement works have increased production and operational efficiency, reinforcing the supply to the Federal District and the Midwest.
The geographic distribution of investments also aims to reinforce logistical efficiency for supplying the main consumer markets and strengthen regional supply chains. The integration model with small producers, such as the one adopted in Paraná, allows combining the growth of the Mantiqueira region with income generation and the development of integrated partners.
“Growth also means expanding Mantiqueira’s positive impact in the regions where we are present. These investments will generate new direct and indirect jobs, create opportunities for partner producers, and boost local supply and service chains. Céu Azul is an example of this strategy: we are expanding our capacity with around 120 small integrated producers, combining the Company’s growth with income generation and local development, helping to keep families in the countryside,” says Leandro Pinto .
Artificial intelligence and digitalization
Physical expansion runs parallel to investments in management and digitalization. In the commercial area, Mantiqueira implemented artificial intelligence tools to map, in real time, product turnover at points of sale and support inventory and supply decisions. In the corporate environment, the company structured the Mantiqueira Service Center (CSM). The hub centralizes operational routines and digitizes back-office tasks , focusing on standardization, efficiency, and agility.
“As we gain productive robustness, our management needs to keep pace. Artificial intelligence ensures precise decision-making in sales, while CSM streamlines processes, cuts redundancies, and speeds up our governance ,” says Leandro Pinto , founder of the company .
The company has also been investing in innovation and the development of new products and applications to expand the egg market and create sources of growth. The strategy includes increasing the share of higher value-added products and exploring new ways of using egg whites and yolks, expanding consumption possibilities beyond whole eggs .
“For us, scale doesn’t just mean producing more. It means building a more efficient, innovative company capable of generating value from every stage of the chain. We are investing in production, but also in technology, brands, new products and models that allow us to expand the possibilities for egg consumption and create avenues for growth for Mantiqueira ,” summarizes Pinto.
