The Fuertes Group enters the chicken sector with the purchase of Tolvasa and Paasa

The Murcia-based group, owner of El Pozo, adds poultry farming to its business with two Albacete-based companies with more than 50 years of experience.

Grupo Fuertes has entered the chicken sector with the acquisition of Tolvasa and Paasa, two family companies with more than 50 years of experience, located in the towns of Casas Ibáñez and Albacete and dedicated to the breeding, processing and marketing of chicken.

The acquisition reinforces the strategy of the Murcia-based group, expanding its presence in the food industry and strengthening its growth in the poultry sector. Furthermore, the operation will allow it to guarantee control and traceability throughout its entire production chain.

The transaction has already been authorized by the Spanish National Markets and Competition Commission (CNMC). Grupo Fuertes was advised by Garrigues and EY Parthenon during the process, while Tolvasa and Paasa were advised by KPMG.

With this acquisition, the business will focus on feed production, incubation, and the management of rearing, laying, and fattening farms. The acquired companies will also handle the slaughter, processing, and distribution of the chicken, allowing Grupo Fuertes to complete the entire production cycle, from raising the birds to selling the product on the market, supported by the expertise of its workforce.

The Albacete-based firm Tolvasa is reinforcing the growth of the Fuertes Group’s chicken segment after its attempt last year to acquire Uvesa for €300 million, the country’s second-largest chicken producer, which ultimately went to the Ukrainian company MHP. Tolvasa posted a net profit of around €2 million last year, a figure virtually identical to that of 2004, and its revenue reached €58.9 million.
