Vietnam?s tuna exports increased by 10% between January and July compared to year-earlier levels, reaching $356 million, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
Exports to major markets continued to get the good growth such as the EU (+22%); Israel (+62%); ASEAN (+23%) and Japan (+21%). Meanwhile, sales to some markets were down such as the U.S (-8%), Mexico (-34%) and China (-55%).
According to statistics from Vietnam Customs, a rise in Vietnam’s tuna exports in the first 7 months of this year was driven by an increase in exports of frozen tuna loins/fillets and other processed tuna. The export value of frozen tuna loins/fillets in this period climbed by 8% over the same period last year while that of other processed tuna increased by 65%.
