Andalusian fish industry has sold fish and shellfish worth 66.7 million

Fisheries in Andalusia are reporting a good first half of the year, the volume of fish and seafood sold on the market reaching almost 20,000 tonnes, with a total value of €66.7 million.
The figures are viewed as consistent, considering the fact that the industry experienced a loss of considerable percentages of quotas of species such as hake and horse mackerel after the international negotiations led by the previous Government of Mariano Rajoy or the situation of the sardine fishery, reports EComercio Agrario magazine.
Isla Cristina, in this context, is confirmed, once again, as the main fishing bastion of the autonomous community. With €10.9 million (2,709.72 tonnes), it accounts for 16.3% of the total turnover of the region, followed by the markets of Bonanza in Cadiz, in Sanlucar de Barrameda, and Cadiz, which have entered €8,8 million and €6.3 million from the sale of 2,002.07 and 3,833.66 tonnes of fresh fish and shellfish, respectively. On these data rests, in the words of Sánchez Haro, "a good part" of the "specific and strategic" weight of the provinces of Huelva and Cádiz in the extractive sector. The province of Cadiz is seen as a strategic zone in the Spanish fishery sector as its 10 ports have closed the first half of 2018 with the commercialization of 9,640.16 tons for an amount of €25.8 million. Another province, Huelva, through its four infrastructures, has signed a balance of 4,972.14 tons and €18.7 million.
By categories, the Andalusian fish markets have sold in the first half of 2018 a total of 15,755.99 tonnes of fish, 1,998.29 tonnes of molluscs and 1,610.67 tonnes of crustaceans. The first, which have reached an average price in auctions of €2.19, have left in the balance of the autonomous community in the first six months of the year €34.5 million. Much higher is the appraisal of crustaceans, which has been set at €10.08 to leave transactions worth €16.2 million. The sale of molluscs, at €8 per kilogram, has resulted in an income of €16 million.
