Argentine beef exports increased in September 2020
According to the report prepared by the statistics and economics area of the IPCVA, Argentine beef exports corresponding to September of this year reached a value of approximately 246 million dollars, resulting 18.8% lower than the 302.5 million of dollars obtained in the same month of 2019.
The average export price corresponding to September 2020 was 22.8% lower than that observed throughout the ninth month of 2019. As a consequence of the negative trend in prices, which had a year-on-year variation of -22.8% , there was a fall in the value obtained despite the fact that there was an expansion of 5.2% in exported volumes.
Argentine beef exports accumulated over the last year, from October 2019 to September 2020, were located in volumes close to 918 thousand tons equivalent to beef with bone for a value close to 3,063 million dollars.
In September, sales abroad were moderately higher (+ 9.6%) than those of August 2020 and those of September 2019 (+ 5.2%) considering the volumes shipped in tons by product weight (not include offal and offal).
In summary, shipments of chilled, frozen cuts, and processed meat corresponding to the month of September 2020 totaled 58,407 tons of product weight, for a value of approximately 245.7 million dollars. The average FOB price per ton for the period in question was approximately US $ 7,350 for chilled boneless cuts; and slightly less than US $ 3,850 for frozen boneless cuts.
The People's Republic of China was the main destination, in volume, for Argentine beef during the first nine months of 2020 with approximately 321 thousand tons, followed by Chile, 22.9 thousand tons, and then by Israel, 21.6 thousand tons, and the United States is now the fourth main export destination, with 19.2 thousand tons.
Regarding the value of foreign exchange, the main market during the period has been China, which represents (61.1%) of the total exported value of chilled, frozen and processed beef in the period, followed by Germany (8, 0%), Israel (7.5%), and Chile (6.5%).
