Argentinian beef sets strong foothold in China
Due to the ASF crisis and trade barriers existing between China and the US, the volatility in the Chinese animal protein market is expected to grow in the following months. High prices are already present in the market, as the Argentinian beef producers have found for themselves.
“It is a fair with a movement never seen and of very good prices. Operations are being carried out with values that exceed 1,000 to 1,500 dollars what was paid last year”, declared Jorge Torelli, Vice President of Institute for Promotion of Argentinian Beef, for De Frente Al Campo magazine. Most of the Argentine companies negotiated all the meat they had available and many are just offering containers for August or September of this year. The values per ton are ranging between $5,200 and $7,000, but the risk of a bubble in prices appearing in the market is also high.
