Bolivia enters the final stage to export beef and dairy products to Chile
The opening of this market will expand opportunities for the livestock sector and strengthen external sales of agricultural products.
“Following bilateral efforts that intensified in recent years and the certification by the World Organisation for Animal Health as a country free of foot-and-mouth disease with and without vaccination, the doors are opening to demanding markets such as Chile,” the Ministry of Agriculture reported.
The institution noted that Minister Oscar Mario Justiniano stated in an interview with the press that, in addition to the four existing markets for beef, Bolivia has already secured Paraguay as a new destination, and Chile could be the next.
Efforts to open the Chilean market to meat and milk exports began during the administration of Luis Arce and progressed after the country was recognized as free of foot-and-mouth disease with and without vaccination at the 91st general session of the World Organisation for Animal Health.
This week, the Government authorized the export of beef to Paraguay, adding a new market for the protein.
Senasag announced that Bolivian meat met the sanitary requirements established by the National Service for Animal Health and Quality (Senacsa) of Paraguay.
The Santa Cruz Cattle Ranchers Federation (Fegasacruz) highlighted the public-private partnership that led to the opening of the Paraguayan market for Bolivian beef exports. Furthermore, the livestock sector guaranteed domestic supply.
