Brazil: Chicken meat exports close in July at nearly 400,000 tons

Brazilian chicken meat exports (considering all products, both fresh and processed) totaled 399.7 thousand tons in July, according to the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA).

The number is 13.8% lower than that recorded in the same period last year (with shipments of 463.7 thousand tons in July 2024) but, at the same time, it exceeds by 16.4% the total exported in June this year (with 343.4 thousand tons).

Revenue recorded in July reached US$737.8 million, a balance 17% lower than the previous year (US$889.2 million), but 15.8% higher compared to June, US$637 million.

"There has been a notable reestablishment of trade with many nations that had suspended imports due to an isolated and now resolved case of Avian Influenza on a commercial farm. Comparatively, over 50,000 tons have been added to our flow, a number that is expected to expand in the coming months as negotiations are consolidated and all markets reopen", assesses ABPA president Ricardo Santin.

In the year (January to July), Brazilian chicken meat exports totaled 3 million tons, a figure 1.7% lower than that recorded in the same period last year, with 3.052 million tons.

In terms of revenue, the accumulated balance reached US$5.609 billion, a result 1.5% higher than last year, with US$5.525 billion.

The main destination for Brazilian chicken meat exports, the United Arab Emirates, imported 51.7 thousand tons in July, a balance 33.6% higher than the amount shipped in the same period last year, with 38.7 thousand tons. Next are Japan, with 42.9 thousand tons (-9.3%), Mexico, with 36.4 thousand tons (+45.6%), Saudi Arabia, with 31.4 thousand tons (+19.7%), Angola, with 16.1 thousand tons (+68.7%), Singapore, with 13.6 thousand tons (+8.8%), the United Kingdom, with 12.7 thousand tons (+84.3%), Kuwait, with 11.6 thousand tons (+13.3%), Ghana, with 10.9 thousand tons (+131.1%), and Hong Kong, with 10.2 thousand tons (+72.5%).

Brazil's largest exporting state, Paraná, shipped 152,100 tons in July, a 19.2% decrease compared to the same period last year. Next are Santa Catarina, with 95,300 tons (-7.6%), Rio Grande do Sul, with 46,200 tons (-22.5%), São Paulo, with 26,800 tons (+3.8%), and Goiás, with 22,800 tons (+4.2%).
