Brazil: Egg exports grow 295.8 percent in May

Brazilian egg exports (including fresh and processed) totaled 5,358 tons in May, according to the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA). The number is 295.8% higher than the total shipped in the same period last year, with 1,354 tons.

Brazil: Egg exports grow 295.8 percent in May

Revenue from shipments in May has accumulated an increase of 356.2%, with US$ 13.756 million recorded in the fifth month of this year compared to US$ 3.015 million in the same period last year. 

In the year (January to May), egg exports totaled 18,357 tons, a volume 165.6% higher than the 6,912 tons exported in the same period last year.  

In terms of revenue, the increase in the first five months of the year reached US$ 42.100 million, a balance 195.8% higher than that recorded in the previous year, with US$ 14.235 million. 

Shipments to the United States – the main export destination – grew 996% between January and May this year, totaling 9,735 tons. Next are Chile, with 2,354 tons (+10.8%), the United Arab Emirates, with 1,422 tons (-13.8%), Japan, with 1,422 tons (160.9%) and Mexico, with 1,050 tons (without comparative period. 

In the monthly comparison (May 2025 x May 2024), the United States registered growth of 1,384%, with 4,166 tons exported. It was followed by Chile, with 534 tons (-22.3%), Mexico, with 232 tons (without comparative period), Japan, with 205 tons (+132.7%) and Angola, with 102 tons (without comparative period). 

"The egg sector has seen a strong increase in exports, amid a reconfiguration of the flow of shipments that now includes the United States, Japan and Mexico as the main destinations for the products. Even with the suspensions resulting from the specific outbreak of Avian Influenza, sales continued at a high pace, demonstrating the markets’ confidence in Brazilian biosecurity", says ABPA president Ricardo Santin.
