Brazil: Opening of Bosnia and Herzegovina market creates new opportunities
A Balkan country with a per capita income of around US$8,500 (World Bank data), Bosnia and Herzegovina has 3.2 million inhabitants, most of whom live in rural areas.
According to FAOSTAT data, chicken meat consumption in the country is 19.7 kilos per year, one of the highest in the region, with a total consumption of 72 thousand tons per year. Of this total, 13.3 thousand tons were imported – mainly from European countries.
"The Bosnian market is a highly relevant opportunity for Brazilian exporters. There is demand for poultry products with high quality standards, and there is a need to complement local production. The new market conquered thanks to the excellent work carried out by the Minister of Agriculture, Carlos Fávaro, his secretaries Luís Rua and Carlos Goulart, and their teams, is yet another opportunity that should generate positive impacts for Brazilian producers and exporters", says ABPA president Ricardo Santin.
