Brazil: Pork exports hit a record high in March
Revenue from shipments in March also reached a record high, with US$361.6 million recorded during the period, a 30.1% increase compared to US$278 million in March 2025.
For the year (January to March), volume growth is 16.5%, with 392,200 tons shipped in the first quarter of this year, compared to 336,800 tons in the same period last year. Revenue recorded in the period reached US$916 million, a 16.1% increase compared to the previous year's US$788.9 million.
The Philippines, the main destination for pork exports, received 48,900 tons in March (an 80.7% increase compared to the same period of the previous year), followed by Japan with 18,200 tons (+85.8%), China with 12,700 tons (-9.5%), Chile with 10,600 tons (+26.1%), and Hong Kong with 8,800 tons (-29.4%).
“Global demand for Brazilian pork remains high, especially in markets such as the Philippines, Japan, and other countries in Asia and South America. The export performance at the beginning of this year should continue throughout the coming months, confirming the projected increase in shipments for 2026,” assesses Ricardo Santin, president of ABPA (Brazilian Association of Animal Protein).
Santa Catarina remains the largest exporter of pork in Brazil, with 71,000 tons exported in March (+21.5% compared to the same period last year), followed by Rio Grande do Sul, with 43,300 tons (+71.4%), Paraná, with 21,400 tons (+10.5%), Minas Gerais, with 4,800 tons (+69%), and Mato Grosso, with 4,200 tons (+37.8%).
