Brazil: Pork exports reached 102,700 tons in September

In the same comparative period, pork sales reached revenue of US$ 244.3 million, a result 4.5% lower than that recorded in September last year, with US$ 255.8 million.

"The average price of international pork sales has been recovering significantly since June this year. In September, average prices were at levels close to those seen at the height of the international African Swine Fever crisis, when there was greater pressure from the global market for animal protein. It is a positive sign for the behavior of exports in the second half of the year and for the minimization of losses in the Brazilian swine industry in the first half of the year. It is also worth mentioning the diversification of markets throughout 2022, with Brazil increasing exports to countries in all regions of the world," analyzes ABPA’s market director, Luís Rua.

Year-to-date, pork sales reached 825,000 tonnes, 5% lower than when shipped between January and September 2021, with 868,800 tonnes.

Total revenue accumulated in the first nine months of 2022 reached US$ 1.851 billion, 10.2% lower than the figure for the same period in 2021, with US$ 2.061 billion.

"Ships of pork have been gradually recovering the levels of exports throughout the year. In the first quarter, the monthly average was below 80 thousand tons. In the following three months, Brazil reached a monthly average of over 90 thousand tons. In the third quarter, we exceeded the monthly average of 100 thousand tons, which signals a better-than-expected end of the year, in relation to the projections drawn at the beginning of 2022, at levels close to those carried out in 2021," evaluates the ABPA president, Ricardo Santin.

Main destination for Brazilian pork exports, China imported 46.9 thousand tons in September (-12.1%), followed by Hong Kong, with 8.1 thousand tons (-48.5%), Chile, with 7 .1 thousand tons (+46.2%), Philippines, with 6.4 thousand tons (+53.2%), Vietnam, with 5.5 thousand tons (+26.3%) and Angola, with 4.5 thousand tons (+92.4%).
