Brazil: Record pork exports in August

In terms of revenue, exports in August reached US$ 269 million, a figure 28.7% higher than that recorded in the eighth month of 2021, with US$ 209 million.

In 2022 (January to August), international sales of pork totaled 722.8 thousand tons, a volume 4.5% lower than last year, with 756.5 thousand tons. Accumulated revenue this year reached US$ 1.607 billion, a result 11% lower than that achieved in 2021, with US$ 1.805 billion.

In the survey by country, China, the main destination for exports in the sector, imported 49.2 thousand tons in August, a volume 16% higher than that recorded in the same period in 2021. Shipments to the Philippines were also highlighted, with 11.5 thousand tons (+381%), Vietnam, with 6.3 thousand tons (+48%), Chile, with 6 thousand tons (+6%) and Thailand, with 4.8 thousand tons (+8376%).

"The significant increase in pork sales to China in August is added to the good results in markets such as Chile, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines, which took second place in the ranking of main destinations for Brazilian exports in August. The data reinforce ABPA's perspective that the second semester will have a significantly better performance than the one registered in the first six months of this year", evaluates ABPA's president, Ricardo Santin.
