Brazilian chicken meat exports down in value by 7.9% in August
The association said that the volumes from August are approximatively 59.8 thousand tons above the average of exports registered in 2018. "Compared with the previous year, the number is 4.6% lower than the 416.2 thousand tons shipped in August 2017 - better monthly performance of the sector in the whole of last year."
Export revenue in August totaled US $ 633.8 million, 7.9% less than the US $ 687.9 million in the eighth month of 2017.
In the year-to-date, the sector's sales reached 2,697 million tons, a volume 7.7% lower than the 2,921 thousand tons shipped between January and August 2017. In revenue, the balance reaches US $4.309 billion, performance 11.8% lower than the US $4.885 billion.
"South Africa stood out as the main importer of chicken meat of the month, with shipments approaching 40,000 tons in the period. The sector's monthly performance, with strong sales to certain markets in Africa and Asia and the notable reduction in the total accumulated exports difference in the months of 2018 in relation to the same period of 2017 reinforces ABPA's projections of a total export forecast to 2018 around 4.2 million tons, "analyzes Francisco Turra, president of ABPA.
