Brazilian pork exports in June up by 50% from a year ago
Last month, Brazilian pork exports increased by 50.4%, reaching 96,100 tonnes, compared with the same month a year ago, reported the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA). In terms of revenue, the monthly performance increased by 43.4%, reaching $198 million registered. Year-to-date, pork exports are 37.01% higher this year, compared to 2019. There were 479,400 tonnes shipped abroad between January and June 2020, against 349,900 tonnes exported in the first six months of the year past.
In revenue, there was an increase of 52.5% in the same comparative period, with $1.076 billion this year and $705.6 million in 2019.
Sales to Asia reached 374,500 tonnes in the first half of this year, 83.1% higher than the figures recorded in the first half of 2019. China, the largest importer of pork in Brazil, was the destination of 230,700 tonnes in the period (+ 150.2%). Hong Kong, ranked as the second destination for Brazilian pork, imported 18.6% more, with 92,900 tonnes. Another important market in the region was Singapore, with 27,800 tonnes (+ 51.6%).
