Bulgaria reports first case of ASF in wild boar
The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) announced on October 23 that a dead wild boar was found at the border with Romania near Kainardja, Silistra. The animal remained entangled in the wire fence as it was attempting to pass through to the territory of Bulgaria, Sofia News Agency reports.
The agency said that the lab tests confirmed the presence of the virus and that all the precautionary measures are taken in accordance with the existing legislation to prevent the disease from spreading.
Furthermore, the authorities also announced that domestic animals are continuously examined and samples are taken from all dead wild and domestic swine or from animals that show clinical signs of the disease.
