Bulgaria to build fence against ASF at the Romanian border

Bulgaria wants to build a fence on the terrestrial border with Romania to stop the spreading of African Swine Fever (ASF) by the wild boars.
More than 100 outbreaks of ASF have been reported in Romania since June and 46,000 pigs have been culled. The Bulgarian minister of Agriculture, Roumen Porozhanov, mentioned that some measures to stop the spreading of the virus have been taken but it's going to be a difficult mission.
Meantime, his Romanian counterpart announced that the virus is reported to be present on an area of 1400 kilometres along the Romanian eastern border of EU and the government has already requested compensations for the losses reported by the local farmers. The funds will also support the costs related to biosecurity measures adopted by local producers and veterinary authorities.
