Cherkizovo ranks as the top meat producer in Russia
The new ranking is comprised of 25 companies, which produced 4.3 million tons of meat last year. This amounts to 43% of all meat produced in Russia.
The top five companies haven't changed since last year, this stability reflecting the constant consolidation of the meat market, " including an increase in the market power of large vertically integrated agricultural holdings." These companies also strengthened their positions through M&A.
The Agroinvestors analysts forecast that the top three ranking will remain unchanged in the following years. Also, Cherkizovo " will tighten its grip on the first place as it completes its previously announced investment projects in pork and poultry."
The production of livestock and poultry for slaughter in all farms reached nearly 9.9 million tonnes in market weight last year, a 3.1% increase compared to 2015, according to data provided by Rosstat.
