Chilean pork stands out in a record year for exports
In 2025, Chilean exports reached a record high of US$107 million, representing a 7.9% increase compared to 2024, according to the Foreign Trade Report prepared by SUBREI (Undersecretariat of International Economic Relations). This result occurred in a challenging international context and was driven by both traditional and non-traditional exports, reflecting the strength and adaptability of the national export sector.
Within this context, the food sector totaled US$23.083 billion in exports, representing a 2% increase compared to the previous year and positioning it as the second-largest sector in terms of returns in the country, second only to mining. This result reaffirms the strategic role of food in Chile's export basket and its contribution to economic and productive development.
Pork: one of the main food products exported by Chile
During 2025, pork ranked as the country's fifth most exported food product, surpassed only by frozen salmon, cherries, fresh grapes, and fresh salmon. According to figures from SUBREI (Undersecretariat of International Economic Relations), pork exports totaled US$652 million during that period.
Asian markets accounted for the majority of these shipments, with South Korea, China, and Japan as the main destinations. Together, these countries represented 69% of the export value and 64% of the total volume of Chilean pork shipments, demonstrating the sector's consolidation in strategic, highly demanding, and high-value markets.
This performance reaffirms the positioning of Chilean pork as an internationally competitive product, recognized for its high sanitary standards, quality and constant supply capacity, key attributes to maintain and project its presence in the main destination markets.
Poultry meat: key figures and destination markets
Meanwhile, exports of frozen poultry meat reached shipments of US$435 million during 2025, registering a growth of 6% compared to the previous year, which allowed the product to rank 12th in the overall ranking of food exports.
In this segment, North America consolidated its position as the main destination market. The United States led shipments in both value and volume and, together with Canada, Mexico, and Puerto Rico, accounted for 84% of the export value and 67% of the total volume of Chilean frozen poultry.
The positive performance of the meat sector is part of a record year for national exports, in which the food sector reached its highest historical level and reaffirmed its contribution to productive diversification, job creation and the positioning of Chile as a reliable food supplier in international markets.
In particular, Chilean pork is consolidating its position as a key pillar of the food sector, adding value to the country's export offerings and strengthening Chile's presence in strategic markets. The results achieved during 2025 reflect the coordinated work between producers, industry, and authorities, as well as compliance with high standards of health, quality, and sustainability.
Looking ahead, the pork sector faces the challenge of further strengthening its international positioning, diversifying its export destinations, and leveraging new opportunities in high-value markets, contributing to the growth of foreign trade, regional development, and job creation, in a context where food security and responsible production are gaining increasing importance globally.
