China culled over 900 thousand pigs due to ASF

Since the first outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) in China, the disease has spread in 24 provinces forcing authorities to cull 916,000 pigs, according to the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA).

China culled over 900 thousand pigs due to ASF

Chinese authorities announced that, so far, 77 affected areas in 21 provinces have been declared free of swine flu. The epidemic occurred in separate spots rather than spreading widely.

Guang Defu, spokesman of the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture, said that the implementation of key prevention and control measures have been strengthened in pursuit of taking a holistic approach in ASF prevention and control and pork supply.
