Danish Crown: The weight limits are lowered towards Christmas

The weeks around Christmas and New Year contain a number of holidays this year, as Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve fall on a Tuesday. In addition, Epiphany falls on Monday 6 January, which has greater significance for customers in Southern Europe.

This results in more closing days at the slaughterhouses and at the related industries, and therefore the weight limits are adjusted in the weeks leading up to Christmas to ensure that the number of exposed pigs is kept as low as possible and that the quantities at the same time better match the expected sales.

Specifically, the weight limit is lowered by 2 kg in week 46 to 71–97.9 kg and 2 kg again in week 49 to 69.0–95.9 kg.

"The plan is that we will advance 100,000 to 120,000 pigs, as it is important that we get along well, so that the number of exposed animals after Christmas will be as low as possible, and we can deliver the right service to the share owners. I would therefore recommend that you have good contact with Central Planning in Vejen regarding the collection of animals, and that you register in good time for the sake of planning", says Nicolaj Nørgaard, director of Owner Service.
