Denmark wants to build a border fence to protect is pigs from ASF
The widespread of the ASF diseases in the recent period in Eastern Europe has raised causes of concern for Denmark, although the country has never reported a single case in its pig farms. The Danish authorities fear that an outbreak could endanger its 33 billion dollar pig exports.
If an outbreak is to take place in Denmark, the export from this country would be banned by its trading partners from outside the European Union, whereas the EU would ban only the pork exports from the affected area.
According to the Danish executive, the ASF disease has been detected in Poland, the Czech Republic, Romania, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.
