EU pork production up by 6% in October

AHDB analyst Tom Forshaw said EU's pork production in October 2018 increased by 14% compared to the previous month.

Forshaw added that although the number of pig slaughterings was up 6% compared to a year ago, the carcase weights have reported a slight decline across the bloc.

EU produced 19.8 million tonnes in the first ten months of 2018, up by 3% compared to the same period in 2017. Pig slaughterings for the period continue to remain elevated, up 2% in the year to October to total 216 million head.
