El Pozo Alimentación has achieved ISO 50001 energy efficiency certification
El Pozo Alimentación has achieved energy efficiency certification based on the international standard ISO 50001:2018. With this recognition, the food company, present in millions of Spanish homes, reinforces its commitment to sustainability.
ISO 50001 endorses the responsible energy management system that El Pozo Alimentación has integrated into its industrial activity. As part of the certification process, various initiatives have been implemented, including the use of renewable energy, such as the construction of Spain's largest photovoltaic solar power plant to produce electricity for the company's own consumption, to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions and thus combat global warming, the implementation of new technologies, and the development of innovation projects that integrate best practices to reduce its emissions.
These initiatives have also been key in helping El Pozo Alimentación achieve an important milestone in the 2020-2025 period by reducing its carbon footprint by 25 percent. Its environmental plan, which already has a management system based on ISO 14001, includes other improvement objectives for the coming years that will allow it to move toward a more responsible and sustainable production model.
El Pozo Alimentación relied on the advice of the specialized consulting firm Konery to obtain this certification. ISO 50001 is a voluntary standard developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). It focuses on helping organizations optimize energy use through efficient and continuous management, contributing to decarbonization.
