El Salvador opens to poultry protein from Brazil
The format for qualifying exporting units has not yet been established, but it will open an important opportunity to expand Brazilian access to the continental markets of Central America, assesses ABPA.
"The opening of El Salvador is a recognition of Brazilian quality and health service, as well as a favorable moment for Brazilian poultry and egg proteins in the Central American market, especially given the possibility of building partnerships with a destination that requires new international options of supply", analyzes the president of ABPA, Ricardo Santin.
With a population of 6.4 million inhabitants, the Salvadoran market has an interesting demand for animal protein from other countries. In 2023, the country imported more than 22 thousand tons of chicken meat and 2.5 thousand tons of eggs annually, mainly from the United States and Guatemala.
"It is another opening that adds to the many others seen recently. It is the first market in Central America to sign a health certificate with Brazil and the expectation is that this can help with access to other markets in the region", highlighted ABPA's markets director, Luís Rua.
