Frimancha Canarias presents its zero-kilometer livestock and meat production plan
Frimancha Canarias, the leading multi-meat production and marketing company in the Canary Islands, received an official visit from Minerva Alonso, Councilor for Economic Development, Industry, Commerce, and Crafts of the Gran Canaria Island Council. The working meeting and tour of the facilities took place at the company's production plant in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and was attended by the company's director, Juan Pedro Martín, and the head of the Gran Canaria platform, José Cristo Cruz.
The meeting addressed the main challenges facing the company in the Canary Islands and how collaboration with the government can boost livestock and meat production in the islands. In this regard, representatives from Frimancha Canarias presented how their livestock production and meat processing activities are developing, specifying that they currently generate 783 direct jobs.
At the livestock level, Frimancha Canarias has grown to produce 5,500,000 chickens, 20,000 pigs, and 2,500 calves annually, making it the leading example of integrated livestock farming on the islands. Furthermore, in the meat industry, the company also collaborates with trusted suppliers. These production synergies have enabled Frimancha Canarias to lead local meat production, handling 40% of beef slaughter and processing, 60% of pork slaughter and processing, and 90% of poultry slaughter and processing.
"At a time when local farm-to-table production in the Canary Islands is increasingly valued, Frimancha Canarias stands out as a leading multi-meat supplier, offering a wide range of meat products and guaranteeing a 100% fresh product made in the Canary Islands," the company highlighted during the visit of the regional minister.
The councilor wanted to express her satisfaction with Frimancha Canarias' commitment "to local products and to the establishment of its entire meat production industry in Gran Canaria, which boosts the economy through the primary sector, generates employment and promotes social cohesion on the island ."
