Frozen raw beef recalled from the US market for toxin contamination
US Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued a high-class warning and recall order for frozen raw, ground beef items were produced on Aug. 8, 2017, by Texas Natural Meats.
According to FSIS inspectors, the products sold under the label “Green Field Farms Rogers Texas Ground Beef" were tested positive for E.coli producing toxin. The evidence was found on June 19 after a routine control at the production facilities. Even if the products were delivered on the market since August last year, FSIS is concerned that some product may be frozen and in consumers’ freezers, Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
The toxin found in the meat usually get people ill in 2-8 days, causing diarrhoea (often bloody) and vomiting. Some illnesses last longer and can be more severe.
