Germany: New ASF case in Brandenburg
The animal was killed in the high-risk corridor near Kienitz on the Polish border. Due to the discovery, Exclusion Zone II, which had previously been lifted, must be re-established in this area.
According to a report in the Märkische Oderland Zeitung (MOZ), African swine fever (ASF) has been detected again in the Brandenburg district of Märkisch Oderland after a long absence. The animal disease was confirmed in a wild boar killed in early March 2025. The animal was found in the high-risk corridor near Kienitz, before the first protective fence to the Polish border. A restricted zone II must now be re-established around the site where it was found. This zone was lifted last year after no more ASF cases were detected for twelve months.
