Goat meat consumption is starting to grow in the USA
Rarely served in the US, goat meat is starting to gain field along the local consumers as local farmers are pushing goat meat specialties on the market, informs News Center1 TV.
Tom Barnes is promoting goat meat as an alternative to other types of red meat for its high protein and low-fat content.
Also, the owner of Pleasant Valley Farm said his business is booming. "I have a tremendous market going, and I don't have enough goat meats. That's my purpose in life, to get more people to raise them and more people to eat them.”, explained Barnes.
The farmer is helped in his task to promote goat meat consumption as a statewide push by South Dakota Specialty Producer's Association. For now, goat farming represents a lesser-known side of South Dakota livestock production.
