Gulfood 2026: A trade fair that exceeded expectations for Argentine beef

This January 30th marked the close of Gulfood in the United Arab Emirates, the first major fair of the year on the international calendar for Argentine beef.

“It was a well-attended fair and exceeded our expectations,” said Georges Breitschmitt, president of the IPCVA. “Beyond visitors from the Gulf region, companies received clients from Europe, North Africa, and many from China, with good prices,” he added.

Bretschmitt also highlighted the support of the Chief of Staff of the National Secretariat of Agriculture, Martín Fernández, the President of Coninagro, Lucas Magnano, and the Argentine Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Jorge Agustín Molina Arambarri.

“The international market is becoming increasingly competitive, and at the fair we also saw a very active presence of other meat promotion institutes from around the world, which operate and are funded like the IPCVA, such as INAC from Uruguay, MLA from Australia, ABIEC from Brazil, or institutes from the United States, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Spain,” he concluded.

The Chief of Staff of the Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Nation, Martín Fernández, accompanied the trade mission at Gulfood 2026, a strategic fair for the export of Argentine meat to the Middle East, Africa and Southeast Asia.

The Secretary's presence demonstrated a commitment to the meat production chain, with priorities including opening new markets, improving trade conditions, and generating greater competitiveness for the sector.

The Argentine ambassador to the UAE, Molina Arambarri, was also very active during the exhibition and emphasized that “having a pavilion like the IPCVA's, showcasing the qualities of our beef, which the vast majority consider to be the best in the world, is a source of personal pride and also a source of pride for our country.” He added, “The Muslim market, the halal meat market, has enormous potential, not only for the United Arab Emirates, but for the entire Islamic world.”

Consolidating its explosive growth and leadership as the most important fair in the region, this year Gulfood was held simultaneously in two huge venues in the city: the Dubai World Trade Centre and the Dubai Exhibition Centre.

The meat sector displayed an unprecedented scale, bringing together the world's leading exporters, producers, and processors.

The companies that accompanied the IPCVA were the following: Offal Exp, Frimsa, Industrias Frigoríficas Sur, Frigorífico Rioplatense, Grupo Lequio, Frigorífico Bermejo, Azul Natural Beef, Bustos Beltran and Argall.

Gulfood is one of four international trade shows scheduled for 2026 on the Argentine beef agenda. The next ones will be SIAL China (May), SIAL Paris (October), and CIIE China (November).
