Half million eggs recalled in France for salmonella
Almost half of million eggs are subject to recall in the French market due to possible Salmonella contamination, announce FoodSafetyNews magazine. Retailers such as Carrefour, Auchan, Systeme U and Netto have issued the recall notes but there is no reaction from the authorities yet.
Carrefour has triggered the recalls chain and so far it seems that every retailer mentioned above is targeting the French producers Arradoy and Matines.
Shell eggs batches involved in recall notes have been dated April 26 to May 18.
There is no recall issued on other egg products so far. Food contaminated with Salmonella bacteria does not usually look, smell, or taste spoiled. Anyone can become sick with a Salmonella infection. Infants, children, seniors, and people with weakened immune systems are at higher risk of serious illness because their immune systems are fragile.
