INTERPORC launches its sandwich route in Catalonia

This is the first stop of this mobile unit, which will tour 20 cities in 7 autonomous communities with a very clear objective: to bring the taste, tradition, and nutritional value of the Serrano ham sandwich closer to the public.

In this autonomous community, the tour will visit Girona from August 5 to 7, and Blanes on August 8 and 9. It will then move on to Mataró (Barcelona) on August 12, 13, and 14, and will conclude its tour of the region in Cambrils (Tarragona) on August 15.

The mobile unit will offer activities tailored to schoolchildren, families, and visitors in general. Among them is a workshop on making sandwiches with ham and healthy toppings such as grated tomato, apple compote, or cured cheese, accompanied by explanations about their nutritional properties.

The campaign also includes nutritional talks, audiovisual screenings, and educational activities for all audiences. The entire space is designed to ensure accessibility and participation.

After its tour of Catalonia, the roadshow will move on to the Valencian Community, where it will visit the towns of Oropesa, Valencia, and Alicante.

Exports

Catalonia leads the country's exports of cured ham and shoulder, both in volume and value. With a total of 27,440 tons and €305.75 million, representing 39% of the national total and 37.6%, respectively.

By province: Girona exports more than 22,289 tons worth more than €249.25 million. Lleida follows with 2,677 tons and €29.33 million; Barcelona with 2,473 tons and €27.15 million; and Tarragona with 0.16 tons.
