INTERPORC travels to Japan to participate in the Osaka World Expo

Prominent figures attended, including the Spanish ambassador to Japan, Íñigo de Palacio España; the vice president of Aragon and the deputy commissioner general of the Spanish pavilion at the Expo, Paula Isabel Roure.

Alberto Herranz, general manager of INTERPORC, emphasized that "the Expo is a global event. A very special event that represents a great opportunity to promote the quality and food safety of Spanish pork".

For his part, Daniel de Miguel, International Director of the Interprofessional, presented several Serrano ham workshops aimed at professionals and consumers interested in the product, with the aim of strengthening the image of Spanish pork in the global market given the large influx of visitors from around the world. Specifically, those held on October 1 and 2 were conducted with a local slicer in collaboration with the Japan Cured Ham Association (JCHA).

These events explain the Interprofessional's campaigns in this market and the international leadership of the Spanish pork sector, specifically in Japan. The culinary value and nutritional and health properties of ham are also highlighted, as well as its versatility and adaptation to Japanese cuisine. Various ham-based tapas are served.

Since its opening in April, the Expo has already welcomed 22 million visitors from around the world—more than 200,000 weekly in the last two weeks—who have enjoyed pavilions from 158 countries and regions.

It's worth highlighting the large influx of visitors from the host country, a key market for the Spanish sector. Japan ranks fourth as a destination for Spanish pork exports. In 2024, exports exceeded 191,800 tons, valued at €787.22 million, representing an increase of 15,340 tons and €140.11 million compared to 2023.
