Intercarn 2018 has 85% of its exhibition space already booked
The leading event for the Spanish meat industry, with a track record going back four decades, will be held at Fira de Barcelona's Gran Via exhibition center from 16 to 19 April 2018.
According to the organizers, bookings for Intercarn in Halls 4 and 5 of Fira de Barcelona's Gran Via venue have already reached 95%. The exhibition will expand over 15,000 square metres of space (11% more than the previous edition) and will host nearly 500 exhibitors, including companies Campofrio Food Group, Noel Alimentacion, Grupo Jorge, Splendid Foods, Industrias Carnicas Tello, Monells and La Selva and associations such as Interporc, Interovic, Anafric, Frivin and Fecic.
A considerable number of European companies will take part, especially from Romania - which will have its own meat products stand - as well as Germany, France, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Poland and Denmark.
The Spanish meat industry currently exports 40% of its output.
"Intercarn has supported the sector in this growth and has helped to promote its export capacity and improve its image," said Paulo Soares, president of Intercarn and general regional manager for southern Europe of Campofrio Food Group.
The meat industry is the fourth largest industrial sector in Spain with a turnover of over 22 billion euros, more than 21% of the entire Spanish food industry.
According to the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and the Environment, last year, the Spanish meat production reached 6.419 million tons, increasing by 4.7% year-over-year. The increase witnessed by the meat production in the last decade was fueled by the increase in -Spain's meat exports.
Alimentaria is supporting the Spanish meat exporters, helping them facilitate business deals and open up new markets. Furthermore, the event promises to attract more than 800 international buyers and influencers - a large percentage of which have meat products in their portfolios. Alimentaria is organizing meetings between exhibitors and buyers. The meetings will be based around the Food & Drink Business Meetings (FIAB offers Spanish exhibitors the chance to organize personalised meetings with the group of international buyers invited to the show with the support of ICEX, MAPAMA and Alimentaria) or will be arranged through the Alimentaria Matchmaking System, a tool available to all exhibitors and hosted buyers at Alimentaria.
