The demand for lamb meat and lamb products is expected to record a significant increase this week in Ireland, as the Muslim festival of Eid approaches, according to IFA National Sheep Committee.

Ireland sees strong demand for lamb

 

John Lynskey, the chairman of the IFA National Sheep Committee, said that "it is expected that demand will be very strong later this week and into next week".

Prices for lamb are currently ranging from 5.15 euros to 5.20 euros, the highest prices for larger lots being 5.25 euros per kilogram.

Mr. Lynskey also said that "mart trade and live export buying are active" and buyers are currently offering between 2.30 and 2.35 euros per kilogram.
